22-148-374-01Another thing that is not possible with a PC. (well possible but really sloppy)

I was close to running out of space on my main hard drive on my MBP.

I am blogging this because it was so friggin’ easy… I still cannot believe it.

So I ordered the new Seagate 500 GB 7200 rpm from newegg.com (my main source for tech stuff)

Prep.

1. Put the new HD in an enclosure that I got from OWC.

2. Use Disk Utility to partition (make sure you use the GUID option)

3. Used the SuperDuper program to “clone” my main 320 GB HD. (took about 3 hours)

4. Boot with the attached hard drive to make sure it works (hold the alt/option key)

5. Took it out of the enclosure and swapped out the drive (OWC website has a great video on how to do it)

6. Boot it up – Done :-)

Works perfectly.

I could have done a clean install. This is what I had to de with my PCs in the past because Windows would build up all kinds of “crap” and start running slow.

I have a dookie load or programs and still would have been like a 3 week process getting all my programs back on.. SOOO
I am very, very pleased with this setup.

That is one of the biggest reasons I love the mac OS. No “crap” No spyware or Viruses.

Just works!!! Yipeee.
